Built in 2003, the Sports Factory is a 39,000 square foot climate controlled indoor soccer facility in Lincoln Park, NJ. The state of the art facility features four ‘field turf” indoor soccer fields, a two-lane 60-yard sprint track and a 2,000 square foot speed & agility center. It also houses a 3,000 square foot glass enclosed mezzanine with offices, an expanded snack bar, stadium-style seating, wireless internet, flat panel televisions, restrooms, and a glass-enclosed party room.
I was hired to turn around the underperforming facility in 2015. I produced and led a team that executed a business model to reinvigorate the company by establishing a sister soccer training company and an elite Academy, TSF Academy, to establish new revenue streams that created synergy between all components to thereby, increase utilization of the facility, expand revenues and maximize the efficiency of overall resources.
The plan increased assigned business segment revenues by 1,740 percent, established ongoing increased profitability and the overall company financial valuation. During my tenure, The Sports Factory completed major affiliate agreements with twelve clubs to supply instructional coaching services to over 5,000 players annually, filled the facility to 99% capacity during the peak season, and 76% in the off-season.
To support the growth, I built a 22-member full-time staff with one of the lowest employee turnover rates in the industry and created a marketing campaign to reinforce the brand. The established business model at the time was recognized as one of the most successful in the indoor facility industry.

I established a robust sales and marketing campaign to highlight the ongoing success with the objective to recruit more players, teams and ultimately customers to the club. By 2018, TSF Academy had won its first national championship, had grown to include 23 elite teams and more than 450 registered players, with over $1.2 M in revenues and whose internal programming requirements filled a large portion of the capacity of The Sports Factory, our sister facility company.

The New York Fever was a professional soccer club, based in New York, that joined the USISL in 1994, playing two seasons in the professional league. In 1996, the Fever merged with the New York Centaurs and the unified New York Fever team competed in the A-League before folding in the postseason. In 1998, one of the Fever owners moved the team to Staten Island and rebranded it under the name Staten Island Vipers, which rejoined the A-League. Many of the 1996 A-League franchises progressed to Major League Soccer including the Montreal Impact, Seattle Sounders, and Vancouver Whitecaps, and the teams in Atlanta, Colorado, and Minnesota joined MLS but rebranding under different names.
I was the Head Coach of the club and in my first year transformed the team from 9 wins and 11 losses in the prior season to 21 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw in 1995, winning the Capital Conference regular season championship, the Northeast Conference Championship and progressing the franchise to the semi-finals of the USISL National Championship, only to lose on penalty kicks. At the end of the season, more New York Fever players were selected by Major League Soccer teams in the inaugural 1996 league draft than any other organization. The following season, I was tasked with rebuilding the team under a challenging front office climate.
During my tenure, I was responsible for recruiting players, negotiating player contracts, all practice, and game coaching, selecting the game day roster, scouting opponents, media interviews and community appearances. I was offered the Head Coaching job at the Staten Island Vipers but declined the offer.
Role: Head Coach (1995 & 96)

I was responsible for player recruitment, negotiating player contracts to the club budget, game and practice coaching, selecting the game day roster, scouting opponents, media interviews and community appearances. At the end of the season, my contract was purchased by the New York Fever professional soccer team.

My duties included assisting the head coach with bench and practice coaching, observing upcoming opponent games, scouting potential recruits and reporting my analysis back to the head coach. I spent seven months at the club as a non-contract player initially under Argentine manager, Osvaldo Ardilles, and subsequently England legend, Kevin Keegan. Keegan was seeking to loan me to the lower leagues so I would gain more regular match experience but I elected to decline the offer and returned to the United States.
